Institute of Translation and Interpreting
The Institute of Translation & Interpreting was founded in 1986 as the only independent professional association of practising translators and interpreters in the United Kingdom. It is now one of the primary sources of information on these services to government, industry, the media and the general public. With its aim of promoting the highest standards in the profession, ITI serves as a meeting place for all those who understand the importance of translation and interpreting to the economy and society, particularly with the expansion of a single European market of over forty languages and the growth of worldwide communications. ITI offers guidance to those entering the profession and advice not only to those who offer language services but also to their customers.
Institute of Translation and Interpreting German Network (GerNet)
ITI German Network is a Network of the Institute of Translation and Intrepreting, dedicated to translators and interpreters working into and out of German. The Network is one of the oldest ITI Networks and serves as a forum for members to discuss terminology in both languages and to provide a networking opportunity for its members, many of whom are home-based freelance translators. The Network publishes a bimonthly journal, Netzblatt, more information on which can be found by selecting the appropriate item in the menu bar on the left, and a Directory of its qualified members for use by those seeking translators and interpreters into or out of German.
ITI German Network Work and Playshop, Manchester 25th September 2010
The next event on the GerNet calendar will be the ITI German Network Work and Playshop to be held in Manchester in September 2010. Our guest speakers Angela Sigee, Doug Lawrence, Iwan Davies, Jackie Jones, and Nick Rosenthal will encourage us to seek new horizons. We will look at how to acquire a specialist subject focusing on legal translation and alternative medicine. We will also cover website localization, sales negotiation, useful software tools and internet sites before we finish with a panel discussion about how to keep your language skills current and how to bridge the culture gap.
Attendees to this Playshop can download our presentation, the organisers will supply the required password.
